    I have been thinking and with my W3J I have two batteries (One Optical) . The main battery does not get used until the optical battery is totally drained. Doesn't totally draining a battery shorten its lifespan? So is my optical battery in for a short life?

    It is pretty standard for the modular battery to be used first.
