Im really loving the F8 series. for university and stuff but like..everyone tells me to get the dell m1530 over it anyday because of crappy battery life of asus. what should i listen to? lol it seems like everyone has a different of opinion i just need some asus people to answer their own experience with battery life of your laptops. because yeah..i dont know. please help. (and be as unbiased as you can haha)

asus packs in more features for a cheaper price and has a much better warranty
dell has spotty customer service and their notebooks are quite expensive. i just chose the m50sva1 over a lesser equipped m1530. in addition to saving $500 i am quite pleased with the asus.
if you can live with short battery life asus > dell, imo -
mm sounds good.. but im also waiting until next week for new platform for perhaps a better increased battery life?
-
because of the new cpu and gpus that are lesser wattage.

Asus battery life? What battery life? I don't see no battery life.
In general, Asus notebooks have crappy battery life. Poor power management and ACPI coding. -

So everyone has told you by now that the battery life is a huge issue with ASUS laptops.
Now you have to decide how much that will affect you. If you stay home a lot and you'll have your laptop plugged into the wall then maybe the ASUS is a better choice. But on the other hand, if you're on the go a lot, or you just want to have the security of being able to last longer without being connected to the wall then go for the dell. -
mhm thanks alot =)

Does anyone think that 2 and a half - 3 hours is good battery life for using in a university. I asked my brother and he said his laptops lasts 1.5 hours. However, he doesn't use it to type his notes, just to type papers and stuff.
-
i have the f8sn-c1 and i can squeeze out 3 hours after undervolting, vista tweaks, and disabling the camera/bluetooth, which actually isn't bad for a 6 cell battery. only issue is that there's no option for a larger battery with the f8 series.
good battery life is around 4-5 hours. if you have a break between classes or can charge during classes you should be fine. -

2.5 - 3 hours is acceptable depending on your level of usage. You probably wont be using your laptop to take notes for every single class so 2.5 - 3 should be ok. On the other hand...if you do plan on using it during every single class then 4 - 5 is what you want.
