    Hi Everyone,

I'm in the market for a new laptop and came across this diamond in the rough, the ASUS F3JP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220142

The only thing that would really be holding me back from seriously clicking buy now in newegg is a question of battery life. I've read from people here that some get as little as two hours where posts and comments on newegg claim four hours after watching a DVD! Wow! Can anyone please give me a little bit more insight on what I very well could expect for normal web browsing at a medium brightness, thank you very much for your help.

    Nick

Battery life depends on several factors, such as Wireless, nature of tasks performed, if GPU is being used, etc.

    Jetstar,

I'm not looking for a textbook answer. Like I said, I'd like to know what people that actually have this laptop get for a regular sitting of web browsing, no gaming, no dvd action with medium brightness. If anyone can give me a good idea of what to expect, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

On battery saving mode the battery will last about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, Im not sure about the entertainment or high performance mode.

I get upwards of 3 hours with the wireless off, screen at 1 or 2 notches above minimum. Beyond that, though , it's difficult to name a figure. the max I've managed to stretch it to is 4 hours and some minutes.. That was on min. brightness, no wi-fi, almost zilch usage.. No point really, apart from making the statistic. :p

The battery life is basically 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours, with a low-medium brightness, WIFI On, and just doing basic tasks like Internet Browsing and typing documents.

Technically speaking you can last about 1 hour of gaming on battery on high performance mode, but you can also last about 2 hours on high performance mode by doing regular tasks.

If you need more battery life, pick up another main battery, and then turn off the notebook and swap batteries.

The F3JP is a great notebook, high performance, decent quality, great specs and ports.

Two and a half hours, give or take, is the time you should expect with typical activity. Gaming on the battery is a bad idea, haha.
