    I have a G50vt-x5 with the large battery. It has not been calibrated since i got the laptop about two years ago. I can only run about 10-15min on batts until the machine shuts off abruptly while still at 70-90% charge. Calibration is necessary but I have tried the method that everyone talks about:
    Let computer shut off from batt. depletion
    let charge fully then reboot

    infact, you could say that this 'calibration' occurs everytime i run on batteries and theres no utility to be found in the bios.

    Am i doing something silly wrong, or is there another malfunction here that needs to be addressed??

    You are calibrating correctly. When you recharge from total depletion is the computer turned off? (IT should be). I had the same issue with my G73 but it died at 25%. Bottom line the battery needs to be replaced IMO.

    Most people do end up replacing the battery after 2 years or so, so I would have to throw my hat in with JOSEA in that you likely need a new battery. You are doing the "calibration" correctly, so it is likely that the battery has just run its course.
