I've noticed that the battery LED has remained on (orange) for almost a full day. I checked the battery meter, which shows the status at 99% and charging. My V6 has been plugged in and running on AC power all day. Even after shutting it off for a few hours, the LED has been on and the status is 99%. Is this anything to be concerned about?

    Jack,

I hate to have to tell you this, but your baby has been contaminated. There (luckily) is one way to fix this. You must send your computer to me as soon as humanly possible. I will take care of it and treat it as if it were my own.

OK, i don't really think there is a problem. I would try running the batter down pretty low (below 10%) then recharging it. I don't know if Asus has a recalibration type tool, but try that if they do. Good Luck.

    Funny stuff, CS!!! :p

The charging light was still on this morning. I'll try running down the battery and see what happens when it recharges.

That is a bit strange my V6V's light always goes out when it's done charging I'd try using it on battery for a while totally drain the battery and then give it another charge see if you have any luck, also you could try using the calibration thing in the bios I think your suppose to use that when you have a full battery so it can calibrate but I’m not totally sure about that.

Hey Jack, you don't remember this problem...a few people were talking about it a few months back...before you bought your V6Va. I have the exact same "problem" or "Issue" with my V6V. It's the battery. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to fix it except sending it in for an exchange. It's not the end of the world or anything, but some of these batteries have a glitch that won't let them charge past 99%, which then prevents the charging light from going out. I don't think that has a negative impact on anything but the battery, but then again I could be wrong.

The main downside to this problem is that most people who have experienced it then start experiencing the battery losing capacity and charge at a greater rate than normal. If It doesn't bug you, then don't worry about it too much. If you start losing capacity and charge in the next month or two, then contact Asus and they'll exchange the battery for you. It's a known issue as far as I know, and everybody that has contacted Asus about it has gotten a replacement battery no questions asked.
It doesn't bother me all that much, but since the battery is under warranty for the first year of ownership, and things won't be getting any better, I'm going to send mine in in a few months no matter what...sooner If the capacity starts dropping off radically.

So you have some options, don't worry too much, It is a known issue. I hope that helps, good luck :)

    What up, CC?

You diagnosed my problem perfectly. I'll call Asus and ask for a new battery. Will they send a replacement first, or do I need to return my current battery before getting the new one?

    Thanks for the lowdown!

No problem...As I remember it, I think at least one person was able to keep their battery until the replacement arrived. Give Asus a call and tell them you'd prefer doing it that way because you can't be without your only battery for any length of time because of school/work. I'm almost positive they'll be fine doing things that way if you insist. Just be sure to get a case # and you're all good.

The way I see it, the "glitch" isn't going to get any better, so you might as well send it in while It's under warranty. Good luck :)

my z70va had this problem for a very short time. i ended up just draining the battery a bit with my everday work and then recharged it as i normally did and it fixed itself. dunno if that'll work with yours but its worth i shot i suppose.

Have you tried the battery recalibration in the bios?

As a side note how much time does windows report you having on a full battery when you are in the office application power mode.
I wanted to see what yours is like compared to my V6V

I finally got a response from Asus. They suggested, as did some of you, that I run the battery calibration tool in the BIOS. I had already drained/re-charged the battery, which seemed to fix problem. I ran the tool anyway so I think (hope) all is well. Thanks for all your comments!

Jason: My battery displays 3:25 - 3:45 when set to Office mode.

Just one mo' thing... I eff'ing LOVE my V6Va!!!! :D

That's great news! Congratz, as many here do, use mobilemeter or NHC and monitor batterywear percentages.

Look at it over time, over a 2-6 month period.

If each month you wear % is increasing abnormaly then it would seem you are having a battery problem.

Day to day checks are not really as important than monthly checks, because we've seen numbers jump erradically in days.

Good Luck and the V6va is one great model.
