Hi everyone!
My Asus W3A battery died and i am looking for a new one.
Searching online i found a number of places that would sell a battery for W3A, but what stopped me was the fact that they all publish a different part number. On all the websites the part number is 90-NCA1B2000 or 90-NCA1B3000, while the original battery is marked 70-NBC1B1000.
Does anyone know if these batteries are compatible or am i running into a danger of burning my laptop or something?
Any feedback will be appreciated!
Thanks!

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
The latter xx3000 is only a 2400mAh battery, probably a 4 cell (which you don't want to use). The xx2000 is a 4400 mAh, which is better. They *should* fit and work, but I can't be positive.
I think the original W3 battery was a 4800mAh one, but mine is at home at the moment - that would explain your different model numbers.
You might also want to consider something like BTOTech's offering, which is a 8-cell *silver* rather than white battery, but Eddie will probably guarantee that it will work in your W3. -
Thanks!
Do you also happen to know what the number 70-xxx and 90-xxx stand for? That is the only other difference i can see. -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
No, sorry..... probably for different original model series or something.
-
Are these original batteries? If not then maybe the SN difference is due to that (third party manuf)? I don't really know..

Thank you guys!
I understand that W3A is no longer produced and so are the batteries... so i assume that most of the batteries out there are third party products. I am just afraid to burn the laptop with wrong battery... -

Last I remember Eddie gets his from an overseas supplier, with a more recent production date so you shouldn't have to worry as much about significant shelf-life wear -- you'll want to confirm that with him, however. At $99 + shipping, it's a fairly decent deal as batteries go (even if the color doesn't match the white hinge).

Yeah, I would be wary of shelf-death, the laptop is quite a number of years old... at this point I would be unsure whether an old, original battery that might be dead, is not actually a worse idea than a new(er), 3rd party batt.
But you're right in that there can be (and there usually will be, it seems) all sorts of firmware incompatibilities with 3rd party batts. You can only hope that none of those incomp. will make the battery unusable... -
This is what i was told by a person at a store you recommended... he said that the original Asus batteries are not good because they are old. But he also told that they are the only one place in North America that carry currently produced alternatives, while other places also told me that they are selling made in China replacements... ClearSkies, have you had a lot of experience with Eddie?
I am less worried about making the battery unusable, but more about making the laptop unusable -
Shouldn't happen... the worst that usually happens is that the batt charge is not read properly / it's not charging properly / etc.
But of course noone can guarantee the lack of catastrophic consequences... do back up your data first. -
You bet i will back up

.
Bought my notebook from Eddie 2 years ago. He's a good guy, I recommend him highly - others here would recommend him as well; what he said about the batteries is my understanding. -
Thanks ClearSkies!

E-Dima,
Just like ClearSkies, I bought my notebook from Eddie about 2 years ago - and he is very reliable.
Even better, I bought a replacement battery from him about 3 months ago -- it was one of the grey ones...and it has not wrecked my system, although I dropped the Lappy (blame the Wifey) and cracked part of the battery casing. It is still working though....
So order from him....

Thanks Emma!
I am really amazed how helpful everybody is on this forum. Thank you so much!
