I have had my W3V for a little over a year now, haven't had any major issues until two days ago. The problem is either with the motherboard or battery, not sure of which it is and can't test it since I do not have another battery. Well here is the problem.

Two days ago, I was taking the bus home and decided to turn on my notebook to do some work and say that I had only 30 minutes left of battery life, this wasn't normal, since the battery was "fully" charged before I left for home on the bus, so I check on CHC (Centrino Hardware Control, the older version of Notebook Hardware Control), the battery wear level was 76%, and I had only a 47% charge. Now I know there is wear on your battery, but this was extremely high. After a few minutes of work, I turned my notebook off and just read a book. When I came home I turned it back on and proceeded to charge it, after a few hours of it being plugged in and me playing some Starcraft, I realized that the orange battery light was still shining, instead of it being nothing. This raised an alarm in my head and decided to check the battery charge level and wear. Both were still the same 76% wear and 47% charge.

So I proceeded to do a battery calibration overnight, when I awoke it wasn't done, so I thought there was something wrong and turned it off then on again. Well, once I turned it back on and it gave me a charge level of 1%, and after a few hours of it being off and charging cold, nothing happened, 1% charge level.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this same problem and if you think this is a battery issue or a motherboard issue and should I call ASUS support about this? I have never heard of an issue like this before and I do tech support for my school all the time, so I am quite experienced in weird problems, but never this.

I would say that this is a battery issue.

I think either you have a dead/messed battery (or) your battery sensor is messed up. I have heard of batteries holding a full charge while it says that the charge is at like 50% try and see how long it will last before it dies because this may be the culprit. If it dies quick then I would say your battery is dead.

I have similary problem. I bought my W3V around 1 1/2 year ago and MobileMeter shows that my battery wear level is 61%...

Is that a normal wear level for typical battery after 1 1/2 year? The weird thing is, I use AC power under normal temperature most of the time, so I really don't understand why my battery wears this quickly.
