I had my laptop fully charged on Wednesday evening. This morning I took the laptop out of my bag and plugged it in and the battery was at 95%. The battery is only about 2 months old. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is this normal loss of charge?

I wouldn't worry about it.. Most batteries do have some self discharge. i haven't specifically tested Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries for it, but Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries all lose charge due to internal currents.

Most batteries will lose charge over time, 5% is a little bit high but still well within the realm of normal. Even when off your laptop still uses some power to hold the CMOS data. If you had it in stand by mode the 5% is doing really well :3

Btw if you're using Vista and hibernation, it is confirmed that the notebook will use significant power even while apparently it is off. (well, significant with respect to the situation where the computer is shutdown)

Edit: to be correct, I should have said: it is confirmed with the R1F. I'm not sure about other types but I expect the Vista hibernation power drain is not hardware dependent.

Asus uses Samsung batteries. And in all honesty, nobody ever admits it but samsung batteries are the worst. I've exchanged three of my z35f batteries in the last 9 months. They all drop past 10% within the first three months. Asus has been nice to swap them out but the issue keeps happening with every new battery. Check out this thread for more info on crappy Asus batteries.

As everyone here will tell you that is normal. Want bad? Go buy a Sony ntoebook. All of my Sony notebooks would drain 5% easly within a day.

My sony usually does about 2% in a day, But its two years old and its battery only has 7% wear so I forgive it.
