Hi,
I have a problem with my Asus K72JR-X1 laptop (which was bought last December). 3 times out of 4, when in battery mode (battery pack unplugged), the laptop either won't boot (windows stuck at loading...) or will boot but will be slow as hell. So, when it does not boot, I hold the power button 5 seconds, then it turns off.
After this happens, even if I plug it back, it won't boot anymore (asking me to go into windows boot repair)
The only way to make it boot again is to reformat and do a fresh install.
But then the problem reappears, and here we go again !!!!!
Model number : Asus K72JR-X1
OS : Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
Anybody here knows where the problem might be coming from ?
Thanks a lot for the info !
( And hello everyone, I'm new here !)

Could be BIOS power management issue, not sure what BIOS version you have but the BIOS 209 description says: Add missing code for Battery.

I still have the original BIOS (Revision 205).
Is it possible to update the bios using an external usb drive ?
Because I don't have any usb key anymore (lost it 3 weeks ago...) and I don't have access to a floppy. -

If your external drive is FAT, yes, if it's NTFS, there are known issues with flashing from an NTFS drive - it's a bad idea. See: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/174395-bios-update-guide-asus-notebooks.html
