People that also post profound and interesting topics for discussion such as:
ASUS Spreading their assets too thin?
should also be nominated on the basis that they spark up interesting debate on the Asus forums. Not only should the Asus forum be about helping people but to discuss opinions and give feedback on Asus-centric topics.
-
Yeap, even if its an innocent question, they can still be nominated. It's not about info, it's not about posts, its about the quality of the post(s)/thread(s) and how it brings the community together in discussion!
-
Wow, great idea. There should be more people (company's) who realise what a great asset a good internet community can be. Thanks for supporting this forum in that way.
Just one thing is bothering me (a little bit). Please don't call it a "contest". I think it makes people to competitive
Maybe something like "Monthly Asus Forum Appreciation Gift". You could make an acronym out of that. But M.A.F.A.G doesn't sound very good.
You need a contest to find a good name, and the winner of that contest get's a gift, -
MAFAG? HAHA, that's totally hilarious! Justin, I just wanted to say this sounds awesome and it's very generous of you. We really have an awesome community in this forum! There are so many knowledgeable people in combination with helpful, responsive, friendly, and very generous resellers such as you and Eddie. I just wanted to say thanks!

But it's not.... people are voting.... this is the real world, we can't make everyone feel like a winner.. It's a monthly election if you will..... -

OK... just in case any of you have forgotten, today is the offical start of our new "monthly contest". Starting today we're going to start making some notes and picking some people to nominate for the forums "most valuable poster". Again, for those too lazy to check out the first page, at the end of the first 3 weeks of each month, the moderators and myself will nominate 10 people who have really made an impact in the forum that month....... Finally, for the last week of the month those 10 nominees will be up for a public vote and the winner will get a $150 PROPortable Gift Certificate........ It's anyone's game and I really really would love to see a relative newcomer take home the first award, if only to show others that anyone can contribute and be appreciated.
Game on... -

I just have to say that we are all lucky that Justin isn't allowed to win...he would be nominated on about an hourly basis...thanks for the "contest" and your help to this forum.
-
Today is the official start eh? Err yesterday.
*cough* My what a lovely tie you've got on there Justin. Hahahaha...
Goodluck to all and don't let this contest be the only motivation to help others and to contribute to the forum guys~!
Keep it real, for the love of Asus~!
Cheers,

Ya know guys, the thread I made and stickied 'can' count towards the contest

One other suggestion I had, maybe I missed this part of it, but when the monthly MVP is announced, you should put a copy of of the post they were nominated and won for with their name, that way everyone can see what they did. Just a thought.
-
Though, its not just one post, but the involvement...but its still possible!
-
I don't think they should post the post in question for everyone to see, because it might start up flame wars.
The whole, "OMG he won because of that?! BLAH BLAH BLAH"
You know what I mean.
Just post the winner so everything is only for the judges to see and decide after people nominate people for the prize.
Hope I made sense. -

Yeah.. this isn't a single post thing...... in fact, it's hardly a contest.... we're trying to reward people for their involvement for the month... their nomination is certainly going to be based on 3 weeks of posts... both questions, answers, comments... jokes.. whatever...... it's overall involvement... and yet it's not just post count... some one who posted once for the month really won't be seen so much, but if their post made an impact on the forum, it'll be remembered..... But again, we nominate and then everyone else votes........ so when you guys vote, you're going to have to start considering who of the 10 people made the biggest impact for you. I hope that in the end it'll be all cool.... but who knows.... I'm already starting to see a much of reposts... some of which is darn close to copying and pasting from some of my posts and if that's how the month is going to be... this forum is going to get crowded up with BS and that's not the intention either......... if that's what happens, then this may be the only month we try this... who knows.
-
I"ve noticed some serious double posting and random machine gun questions.
Obviously won't name, names, but holy cow man.
Anyhoo' hope this is a success. -
^ I've seen some duplicate threads...is that what you mean?
-
PROPortable Company Representative
Yeah.... I know that people who basically go through and copy posts that I know were mine won't be getting my vote or probably that of others who notice the same thing.... but people are starting to calm down and understand they can't keep up that ridiculous pace to start with. The first month is certainly going to be tough to pick, but that's how things things start off... we'll see how it works and are really focused on the second month really working out well.

What's the latest on Who's involved in making the top 10 list again??? Are you doing it on your own Justin, are all the Moderators making decisions, or just a select few? I'm just curious on the final FINAL system??? Thanks
-
The first one will be up soon, sorry for the delay.

The finalists for this month are:

...ditto
Thanks all and good luck. -
oh cool, i just noticed this post. Thanks for the honorable mention! Haha, and Coriolis, i never left. I just go through these cycles of CRAZY AMOUNTS OF WORK, but even during that time i read select posts once or twice a week. I'm not not much for posting unless I think I have something somewhat significant to contribute (or i'm replying to someone). But nonetheless, thanks for the personal welcome
