Ok I will have a G1S coming soon, and I've read some posts about only charging the battery 50% and such. I'm just looking for advice on what to do when I first get the laptop, this will be my first one so please don't be shy and leave out anything. Thanks guys

[ADVICE]Leave the notebook plugged in when it's on your desk and unplug it when it's not.[/ADVICE]

But seriously... the most you can do to reasonably extend battery life is to extend the threshold at which the battery lets itself discharge before recharging itself while it's still plugged into the wall. It's really not that hard to deal with a laptop...

Basically, if you use the laptop plugged in all the time, unplug it once a week and let the battery go down a ways (maybe down to 75% ;) and replug it back in. Other than that you don't have to worry much about laptop batteries as the technology has gotten much better in recent years and you don't have to worry about "memory effect" and things like that.

As to other issues you might have with a new laptop, just search the forum with any terms you might think are relevant and you'll find a trove of info. If you then have a detailed question we can be much more helpful.

Also check out the G1S owner's lounge and the Asus G1S Resource Thread.

    Good luck,
    ~ Brett

My advice for optimizing for beginners is windows advanced care personal. Its a simple easy to use program taht will optimize your computer and fix registry and get rid of spyware (shouldn't be your main spyware protection thougugh.) It also has the startup and lets you know best to its ability about what it is and if you need it. I always recommend it to people who want to make their computers run faster and such but don't want to do anything too complicated.

Edit: Also the battery guide in blue was a link to the battery guide, it should have been a blue link for you.
    Heres the link anyways: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=91846

Edit2: Link to advanced windows care.
