Hey all,
I'm interested in buying a new laptop that fits:
1. Be able to play Crysis = good graphics card, not necessarily the ones in the big brick laptops
2. Under 6lbs, keep it near 5lbs if great = mobile enough
3. Near 1000-1200 bucks
4. CAN HAVE WINDOWS XP ON IT WITHOUT PROBLEMS.
I was thinking Dell XPS 1530 or HP dv5t (though I hear some downgrade problems there). Thanks.

i have also been searching something similar for my younger brother..
after complete research i came up to this conclusion..
-battery life 4 hours (power save, wifi camera surfing, brightness tuned down)
-nvidia 9650 1gb ddr2 graphics card.. (very nice, good for playing most games on max,of course not crysis but you can turn of AA and some effects and still have respectable 30fps out of it)
-connectivity is great (has all even HDMI,eSATA)
-p8600 2.4 intel CPU "montevina".. newest series intel CPU
-320GB drive (albeit 5400, would like 7200)
-14.1" wode screen best LCD in class (very bright)
-5.7lbs
Most powerfull 14.1" i found out there.. great portability, nice batt-life,great performance.. from all other asus 14.1 this one is the best..
Asus N80Vn-GP011C
here is the forum thread link describing it..

i reccomend buying it from some powerseller on ebay or ebay asus store..
with cashback program you can get it for around 950$
i hope this helps,

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
While I will agree with Ivan on the majority of his analysis, there is no way that the N80 or any other Asus notebook is going to be capable of 4hr on stock battery, esp with a dedicated gpu in the mix, regardless of power saving measures (except LCD on the lowest #1 setting, then perhaps??) -- their engineers can't program ACPI to accomplish that with only 6 cells.
Forum user data suggests that stripping and turning everything possible off, you end up with maybe 3.5 hr, but imo that makes the thing fairly unusable. A more reasonable estimate is generally 2.5-2.75 hours max, with low usage tasks.

are you talking about microsoft cashback? how do you get to it? i tried doing a search and i didn't see any for ebay purchases.
