Knowing Best Buy, it's probably a neutered "soccer mom knows no better" version. Outside of that, I have no clue.

    Exactly what I'm afraid of...

If it's the same specs, though, I'd be on it like white on rice, if only because of BB's surprisingly superior return policy.

It looks like its the same as DB71, with the price savings from the lack of accidental warranty coverage.

It does look the same, doesn't it? But it's Best Buy, so it's hard to know exactly for sure what you're getting until they actually release it...

I've been waiting for system to be available, the couple places I've seen it our out of stock and even BB says backordered. How can it be backordered if you have never had it available, already they are lying. I've been watching their site for the past couple weeks for these models.

Looking at the 2 models they have, both displays mention HD but neither specificaly say they have the IPS display.

If you look on the Best Buy page for the UX32vd and go to questions and answers, Asus answered that it is indeed the exact same as the db71, just different model because best buy has there own numbering system. That's great news, it's $100 less than everywhere else, oooo I hope my local store gets it in time for tax free weekend!!!

Yeah, I saw that. That was my question! And I pulled the trigger on one from Newegg today; with tax, it would end up being the same price anyway, albeit with more flexibility with regard to returns.

Asus answered back to another question on the best buy page saying that it doesn't come with the 1 year accidental coverage or the standard 2 year warranty. Screw that, it's worth the 100 extra bucks for that accidental.

Yeah, I completely agree. Now I'm glad I didn't wait until this one got released! Plus, Newegg was offering a 2-year extended warranty for $42.99 (down from $99.99). Worth it.

What are you talking about? The UX32vd is completely upgradable to 10gb of ram (just stick an 8gb stick in there, I'm going to).

Yes the UX32VD-R7504F is identical to the UX32VD-DB71 the only difference is best buy has their own model number system.

bestbuy.com is now listing UX32VD-R7504F as in stock available for shipping to store for $1199.99:

    Asus - 13.3" Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Radiant Silver - UX32VD-R7504F

Per Q&A on bestbuy.com, it's the same as UX32VD-DB71 minus the ASUS accidental damage warranty -- I'll buy a Squaretrade 3 year drop-n-spill so not worried about that. I called my local store and they were able to take an order over the phone -- expected pickup date is 8/17. Home delivery was a little quicker, but I wanted to purchase in-store so we could use the College Student free Xbox promo -- they said they would honor ordering it this way.

We shall see if it shows up, whether it has screen issues, etc. Hopefully the out-of-stock everywhere thing was an internal hold to sort that out. I figure the Bestbuy 30-day return policy lowers the risk in case ASUS hasn't ironed out the quality problems.

    Wish me luck!
