Hi just wondering what the opinions are for the best graphics drivers for the x600? Omega's and ATI's I guess are the two options, any others?

omega's based on the 5.6 cat's would be best... but that's just in my opinion.... haven't gotten a chance to test them yet but they should be pretty good and only improve what ATI has already done.

Are you guys able to post a link to Omega drivers?

Question: Isn't the X600 an ATI product? -so wouldn't it be best to use their drivers? I know there a times where I would use a windows driver instead of original due to conflicts, but I dont know about this. Not mocking anyone- I really don't know, so enlighten me.

Here. Edit: Too late again... Can't beat Justin! [IMG]

They won't work as of now. At least without some minor modification. ATI does however have planned, from the next Catalyst release, or the one thereafter, to include support for all Mobility Radeon chips in the regular driver release. This will be an opt-in possibility for their system integrator customers. This would mean that it's up to Asus whether their notebooks are to be recognized by the unmodified ATI software, or if they'd prefer to be the only 'official' source of drivers. Possible issues with support and internal qualification would probably be the primary reasons why a company would not want to embrace such an offer from ATI.

Omega was good, but he gotten too busy lately to keep up with the release schedule.

I would suggest use the original ATI drivers or other mod. Check out forums.guru3d.com for a discussion of it and all of the latest drivers.

So if the omega drivers dont work for the x600 mobility, and from what I seen the mobility catalyst drivers from ati site doesnt work where do I get driver updates?

Well I installed the Omega drivers on my Z70v, but when or if I ever do a "disk clean up" it's screws up the computer. It doesnt complete the clean up- it just ends, and when I restart, it'll give me a blank screen (all black) after the WindowsXP slash page. I had to boot up in safe mode, uninstall, and then restart. I think I'll just switch to the ATI Drivers. I think I can live without the extra custom settings.

Im on W3v and just installed the new omega's ati driver. I uninstalled previous versions of ATI and omega's ATI and reinstalled the new omega's ati driver which includes the new cat 5.6. No difference, no glitches/bugs though... graphics still stays the same. But under the stated x600 graphics is 128mb. Previously was 192mb... but still it doesnt bother for me now....
