I know W3J > A8Js in terms of build quality, but how does the G1 fare against the W3J, the A8Js and the V1J/P?

    Thank you

I think the V1 would be tops or in the same class as the W3J. Then a step down to the G1 then another step down to the A8Js.

    well

The g1 is related to the a6

That is the old 15 inch replaced by the f3.

So it is similar to the a8. But its better, it has 1 peice of aluminum in the palm rest and a fancy paint. But they are both the plastic asus model

Ok, well you're talking about two systems about on the same level. In my own experience, I believe the G1 edges out the A8, but they really can't and shouldn't be compared against each other.

When it comes to 15.4" - The W1 was, is and will continue to be absolutley the best built notebook for it's size in the world..... two and half years after it's release my brother has one that he's beaten the hell out of since day one and someone just asked to play around with it yesterday and wondered when he got his new toy...... that kind of quality is probably something Asus won't make again (outside of the W2), but no one expects or will pay for that kind of quality again.

The V1 is a step below the W1 in quality, but it's a step made to help lower weight - which is really more important for the model than anything, because the W1 didn't sell as well because it wasn't the very lightest 15.4" on the market at the time..... With that said, the V1 is the best overall 15.4" notebook we have and is certainly fitting of the higher end W and V series, without a doubt.

The G1 is an awesome machine in itself...... for the money, it's a powerhouse that will hold up better than those it's marketed against - other gaming systems...... It's heavier than the V1, has better graphics, but a lower build quality..... but still much better than average.

Again, it's just hard to compare a more substantial 15.4" to a 14" - with the exception of them both being some of the only 512mb 7700 gpu notebooks on the market....... and roughly around the same price. The G1 is probably the best value out there for a high performance notebook......... but it certainly isn't a V1 either ;) ... I hope that does more to inform you, than confuse you.... but if you get what I've said, then you'll totally understand what I'm getting at.
