    Hello,

What is the best method for removing the fingerprints on my G1S and has anyone also recieved very small scratches (you have to hold it to the light) on the top of theirs from the backpack that comes with it?

    Please refrain from sarcastic comments.

    Thanks,
    -Jere

you mean on the palm rest below the keyboard? use a microfibre cloth :p
The scratch on the palm rest? maybe they are created accidentally when you clean the palm rest with the wrong material

Yeah the Asus G1S does seem to get scratches easily. My didn't come with a bag but the bag i use still leaves lots of really thin but noticable scratches. To keep mine clean I just wipe it down with monitor wipes and vacum all the stuff that gets stuck in the keybaord or other small areas.

Nope, it's small scratches on the top of the laptop itself.

I got scratches on my G1S both on the lid and the palm rest area. They were there since day one. I checked everything on my laptop as soon as I got it.

I clean my screen with "laptop-clene" (Wet & Dry screen wipes) and after i cleaned my screen I use those same wipes to clean the rest of my laptop ;) (goes well)
And i also got little scratches on the top of my G1S (what do you want? It's black, that's logical :p)

I put this on my G1S

    http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/ASUSG1.html

Covers the top from scratches. Also covers the wrist pad which eliminates the fingerprints...

The fit was pretty good. Best advice is to take your time... The top piece is the hardest. Mine ended up flipping on itself and it totally sucked trying to unstick them...

    ^^^

FYI, everything on their site is half off right now for CES...

Price is already reflected when you bring it up... I believe it's valid for 1 week after CES...

Thanks for the heads-up on the sale on the "InvisibleShield" . I ordered one for my G1S a few mintutes ago. I am very anal about fingerprints. For example I have left the plastic that came on the top of the G1S on it since I got it back in November. I also use an external keyboard and mouse as well. Got to make this baby look new as long as possible. :)

Get the OptiMist Prime spray (for your screen) and keyboard cover microfiber from http://www.shaggymac.com/. That stuff works like magic.

OMG thx for letting me know about that show special!

I've been putting that off since the G1s was new, I still have no scratches -- I use tape to cover the palmrest and keep the laptop in a very soft bag when transporting, other than that I try my hardest never to touch the surface and use clear tape to remove dust/fingerprints.

I've heard of people recommending this before... terrible idea lol. It will simply make finer swirl mark scratches. I think you have to use special wax that is applied only by bare hand if you want to do this.

No worries. Just take your time on the install and make sure you let the laptop drive for 24hrs... For the top piece, I would recommend that you push it as far back as you can towards the hinge... I left a tiny gap and it overhangs a slight bit on the top end... Nothing a razor blade couldn't take care of though...

I also didn't install the trackpad one since people complained it loses a little sensitivity... but that's just me....

I've custom made one by cutting a self-adhesive transparent film (the ones that are made for protecting books) that I had lying around the house.

It kinda dulls the shiny finish of the G1S a bit but at least it protects it from dust and scratches... Tha't what I've done with my old G1. Never got a single scratch!

However, that InvisibleShield special is hard to resist!! LOL

EDIT: Oh, and forgot to mention that I clean my G1S with the included microfibre cloth and the matching Targus bag does a great job protecting it. Alas, I've heard that people complain of small scratches made while taking the laptop in and out of the bag. I suppose small dust particles can do a lot of harm while using bagpacks.

Yup, still going... 1/2 off price is $20... The reg price is $40... Just go to Laptop/Asus/G1... It's the same chassis as the G1S...

I think it will end this week...

You now what's cool about the original plastic protecting the lid?

That you can use it to protect your lappie and only remove it when you want to be a show-off!!! That naked shiny finish is awesome to look at don't you think? Once your show ends, you can install it back easily! :D

    Take that InvisibleShield!!! :D :D
