I have a W3J and some dust and stuff has gotten in underneath the keys. What is the best way for me to clean it?

Is it posible to take the keys off to get underneath them for a thorough cleaning? Or would I just have to spray compressed air in between each key and hope that does the trick?

A can of compress air is honestly best. If you remove the two screws that hold the keyboard in that go in from the underside of the system (marked with a "K>" and then pop the keyboard out by pushing back the spring clips above the "ESC" / "F8" / "DEL" keys, it'll pop up and come out of the unit. Spraying from the side, right under the keys will work the best. In terms of cleaning the keys themselves, watch out... you haveto be careful. A light, damp, papertowel with rubbing alcohol will take off the junk. Make sure not to use too much or rub too hard or you could take the finish off the keys.

Also note that the keyboard is still connected to the motherboard, so dont rip the connection!

Well, it's kind of hard to rip that connection.. but it's easy enough to take out and put back in... so taking it out would be advised if you're really going at this thing.

    Mmmm... electrostatic discharge. ;)

Once your keyboard is clean, you might want to consider a keyboard skin to stop junk from getting in there again.

I have found that if you clean the keyboard regularly (1-2 weeks) and use a shaggymac or similar protector the keyboard will stay clean for a long time.

If you don't feel like popping out your keyboard, try tilting your computer 45 degrees facing downward and spray compressed air across the rows of the keys.

I use just a screen cleaner or electronics wipes and just spend some quality time getting the keys cleaned. As I said, if you get them good and clean and then clean them regularly, the keyboard will stay looking nice for quite some time. I use a ShaggyMac protector, so that helps keep them clean as well. I also just started using "Grubby Sticks" from ShaggyMac, basically they allow you to get all the gunk that won't just fall out with compressed air, and they help clean the keys better. I was skeptical at first, but they were a good investment.

Well, popping it out is easy and honestly you could push the dust through to the other side. I like to push the straw under the keys from the side some times and that helps really get stuff out. If you removed the cable from the computer you could then use a vaccum on it if you wanted...
