How are people returning laptops to Worstbuy? I want to return mine, but they said they can't take returns outside of the 15 day.

i don't really like it. I don;t like the face that it has no backlit keyboard, and i don't like the sleep mode downclock issue (i have it to turn LCD off, instead of going into Sleep Mode) i want to get a smaller laptop also.

it has been well over 30, but its within manufacturers

sorry bro you cant no longer return it.

Best (or worts) buy has a policy that will let your return the laptop within 14 days. After that, i think they will change you a restocking fee. After 30, they assume you liked it and you will keep it. read the terms on the back of the receipt.
i bought two laptops from best buy in one week. i returned them both and bought another one. since i was in the 14 day window, they did not charge the restocking fee or anything. hope this helps.

you could probably sell it here. Best Buy has one of the worst customer services period. I wish they would uphold their policies.

If Melinapayne is well over 30 days then why is that bad service or not upholding their policies?

Best Buy return policy for laptops is 14 days with a 15% restocking fee. If you're outside of the 14 days, they every right to refuse a return.

I've found Best Buy's return policy + customer service to be very generous and accommadating... just not when you want to return things well after their 14 return period... sorry mate, I'd recommend selling it on eBay or on these forums.

You can take it back no questions asked and no restocking fee if its in the 14 days, however they will take it back within 30 for free as long as you can find an "issue". I took mine back on the 16th day and said the speakers where messed up. They exchanged it by refunding my money to a gift card and buying the G72GX online. If you cant find an issue a 15% restocking fee applies.

Just make sure you go to the refund counter not the geek squad and ask for an exchange right away.

What about if you find an issue after more than 30 days, like in my case the HDD having bad sectors? Can I ask for replacement of the whole G71gx laptop, or they will send it to Asus to replace only the HDD?

Then it's a faulty HDD and not an issue with the unit itself, thus no exchange or notebook replacement (nor should you even expect one).

They'll put in a new HDD as those usually have a 3 year manufacturer warranty. BB will send it off, either the GSq or Asus tech support for that issue... be sure to back up your data beforehand, you won't be getting that drive back.

Under no circumstances should anyone on this forum be either advocating or helping other members commit fraud. This is in violation of forum rules, and members can be disciplined here for such acts :).

Thanks for the answer ClearSkies. I supposed so as well, but don't know if it's worth it for my laptop to travel some hundreds of miles to Asus only for the HDD to be replaced, as some other parts could get damaged during the transportation. Maybe I'll just give up and sacrifice $100 to get a new 500 GB HDD, but 7200 RPM this time.
BTW I'm very dissapointed with Seagate. This is my 3rd ST drive ever and second faulty. The other 2 were desktop drivers.

When I said they wernt really I ment I could have fixed it, there was a lose screw or something. But as there was a newer model I decided to take back. The machine I purchased in the first place had an issue with the power supply too. But yeah I corrected my post sorry I worded wrong.

If your attempting to return an Asuse notebook they are considered "DEVO" witch means GeekSquad cannot ship out to repair the computer therfore HAVE to replace it as long as its under MFW. Take it back and have then try to process the exchange, it will allow it to be exchanged (per BBY SOP they are suppost to exchange it also) though you have to have reason by doing this. There needs to ba a malfunction of somekind in the unit.

You could also tell them its part os SOP (which again it is) and say you spoke with corp telling you to come in and exchange. MENTION THE WORD DEVO! IF they have problems ask GeekSquad to make a service tag and watch them go waa?"

    Good Luck ;)

p.s. If you want me to double check your product PM me your recite info or SKU# and ill check next time I am at work... (im to lazy to sp3ll ch3k)

Its also good to note Nvidia graphics cards with that 99 year MFW purchased via BBY is the same thing... epic WIN imo
