I found something out the other day, regarding my laptop speakers, and feel so enthusiastic about it I'd like to share it with the community. I'm sure a lot of you already know about this, but maybe it can help someone out there. I find myself pretty notebook savvy (undervolting/OCing, copper mod, gpu bios flashing, a lot of reading, etc), but didn't find this out until I tinkered with my audio settings (and found a new feature I never knew existed). I couldn't be happier with the results =)
I believe this has to do with the Realtek Dolby home theater high definition audio controller, so anyone who has that should be able to benefit. It comes on my particular model, the g50vt-x5, and is just a software setting.

Keep in mind that this is on win7, it might be a little different for other OS's. Also, this doesn't make your speakers as good as externals or headphones, but it does make them bearable, which is a big step up from "useless".
1. I no longer need headphones/usb speakers for games, as I can hear voices properly now, and now hear bass and mid-range without any crackle.
2. It made the speakers sound much louder, assuming because of the bass and mids.
3. I no longer need usb speakers/headphones for movies. It just sounds so much better.
4. I can actually hear the bass lines in my mp3s!
It's a great improvement, and so simple to do. I don't know why they had the default settings the way they did, but after a little tweaking I can say I'm very happy with my notebook speakers.
I really hope this helps someone out there, and isn't me just bringing up old news due to my ignorance on the subject =p

Yeah figured that out a while back, but I'm sure still lots of folk don't realize it. Probably works for the G51 too. I have my Bass Boost set to 6.
Another little hint: The Loudness Equalizer under the Enhancements tab makes everything MUCH louder, in case you have something you want to hear that was encoded at low max volume (looks at you, Daily Show on Hulu). Unfortunately, it also reduces audio quality so I turn it back off when I'm done watching that show  Oh, it was extremely useful for Prototype too because that game is really quiet...
Better sound on a G50VT, Realtek High Defenition Audio
