Well, if they somehow manage to squeeze more cells into the same physical layout.....

That's an interesting find... prob in a couple weeks we'll know if that's real or not...

Definitely let me know what they say in response to your email. If it's true, I guess I'll have to wait until a U.S. shipping store gets them in stock before I can get one. I *CRAVE* more battery life! ;)

Hey guys, can you take your battery out and at the sides somewhere, should be a sticker/label that says something like 70-NF51B1000 or 90-NF51B1000 . Danny from MilestonePC responded to my question, and he says normally batteries would be starting with 90-xxxxxx ... so I'm just curious as what other ppl have. I double and triple checked, and mine starts with 70-xxxxxxx ...

Zydus: hate to break this to you, but Danny just emailed me again. He said the ASUS stock in Freemont is the one he currently has, and it's a 6 Cell. The Freemont stock says 8 cell, but it's wrong and all the resellers are just copying that hence getting our hopes up :)

Of course we can kindly ask Danny to borrow a battery with 90-xxxxx and see if it makes a difference in battery life just to make sure :), but I tend to believe him when he says it's only 6 cell.

Dunno... but if you Google it... you'll find tons of results for 90-xxxx batteries, and none whatsoever for 70-xxxx. Do you live close to Milestone's Markham store by any chance ? :)

hahah... if you have time maybe drop by .. see Danny and compare the battery that he has to the ones we got and see how battery life goes with that one... I'll probably call the store tomorrow to ask them to read the label just to verify...

If only they had a store in Mississauga :)

Just ask for the voltage (V) and amp-hour (Ah) rating for the battery, they're on the label on all Asus batteries that I've seen. Capacity is all that matters, model numbers can change.

What are the voltage and amp-hour for the stock A8Jm battery anyways?

The newer 8-cell batteries like the ones on the W3J are 71Whr (14.8V and 4800mAh). Assuming the same capacity, an 8-cell battery for the A8Jm should be 11.1V and ~6400mAh.

haha ya i was drooling over 4hrs + 3hrs of battery life enuff to watch two movies on a long flight/drive...

well actually on ExcalibrPC on one page it says 8 and on another it says 6 :S im confused

    Checked some german sites:

    http://www.heise.de/preisvergleich/a197475.html

Everyone lists it as 6 cells but then the last vendor says 8, I really think it is indeed a 6.

I tried calling this morning, but nobody picked up the phone, then didn't have time to call again. So, will try again tomorrow, hopefully Danny is there. I think Zydus might be able to drop by at Milestone's Markham store tomorrow to verify some things...

Methinks they're all 6 cells, but I still can't understand why they have 90-xxxx instead of 70-xxxx ....

Who knows. Hopefully the 90-xxxx has a higher rated capacity. A man can dream, can't he?

Speaking of the A8Jm battery... it's definitely not the easiest to remove.

Yeah, there some sort of sticky part that prevents it from being removed too easily and fall out.

    HI, Darrick,

Everything is the same as we communicated the other day through e-mail.

70-xxxxx is the part number for complete notebook, when you buy battery as accessory, it has different part number 90-xxxxxx, people who say 8-cell because:

    1. They haven't seen or haven't paid enough attention to the actual battery, only copied and pasted from distributor's website;

    2. I checked a few distributors website, all say 8-cell, the info must be from Asus which is wrong.

Here is the actual battery package picture I just took for your guys info, when Asus sells it seperately, gives you a packing with part number 90-xxxxxx, but when you open the box, the part number is the same with your battery: 70-xxxxxx.

A small thing brought a big discussion :)
