Does anyone notice that whenever you change the volume and the demo goes into windowed mode, it plays slower? Or am i crazy?

If it's going into Windowed mode then it will be slower. Games usually run slower when running in windowed mode.

Does anyone have trouble with the demo crashing at random points? And have any G1s users been able to activate and use DX10? I can't. I'm using stock drivers, what should I be using?

Bioshock does not run in widescreen mode properly. It clips 4:3 and it runs slower than 4:3.

    The article is on digg

I've got it running on high settings at 1024 on my G1. I only got to play five minutes before work but I didn't even have any trouble at the plane crash and my FPS felt steady (didn't get fraps up so I'm not sure).

same here. My G1S runs it beautifully at 1280 960 or whatever that res is. Other than the fact that the first time I swung the wrench at something it immediately crashed, I'm extremely pleased with the performance. I updated my drivers, so we'll see if I can enable DX10 now. :D

Masternave, would you be so kind as to run Bioshock on your G1S at 1024x768, high quality, DX10 enabled and vsynch on and tell me what framerate do you usually have ?

As far as I'm concerned, with Vsynch off I get about 18-20 fps average

and with Vsynch on I run around 12-13 fps (especially at the end of the demo when a lot of guys come and attack me).

Unfortunately it is quite to difficult to aim properly with this framerate.

When I played it, I got solid 28-35 fps (my guess, I didn't have fps displaying..)

My Hardware is stock *except* for 3gb of memory, and 2gb stick of readyboost SD. My drivers were the stock, and I had everything turned on in graphics, res at the 1280 widescreen, and DX10 was not enabled cuz I couldn't enable it for some reason, probably a driver thing. I'm updating drivers, and we'll see if it works or not tonite...

    Hope that helps.

I have 7.15.11.6501. I got it from www.laptopvideo2go.com. Just downloaded it this morning, I haven't tested it yet, tho it *feels* faster, especially in the aero flip 3d function.

I have a g1s with stock drivers and cant run the bioshock demo, I get 'side by side configuration is incorrect' would video2go drivers help? I also cant run Infernal, I get 'game.exe not working'. Nvidia and/or Asus really has to get to work on the video drivers.

2 hours remaining on Bioshock download. I'll try it out on stock (DriverCD) drivers, then the new 163.44's once I get a chance.

If it's playable at a decent res

Anyone try this out on the C90S? It'd be nice to know for those of us who have purchased one but have yet to receive it. =)

well guys, the word is... if you want framerate, don't use dx10 right now. I may have been just using the wrong drivers, but I was getting horrible framerate from dx10. I got much better w/out, and to boot, the new drivers messed up my opengl, so my favorite quake flavor isn't working... I'm in the process of rolling back right now. If anyone else is more persistent, let me know how it worked out.

Wait, wait wait... you're telling me there are custom drivers for this game? It won't work if I have the newest ATI drivers running...

That's a little absurd and obnoxious on the behalf of the maker of the game... expecting me to change a major component of my computer's setup just to run a demo...

it's not like there are custom drivers... they delayed the demo for the drivers to come out. People on the web just got to calling them the bioshock drivers.

With 163.44 drivers (the stock ones made the textures really really bland). Im running at 1440x900. Everything maxed, Vsync off. DX10 Off, and Shadowmaps Off and Im getting around 20-35 FPS on my G1S-X1. The Key to better framerate is turning Shadowmaps off.
