I've had an asus f3ke since November 07, and just yesterday I tried turning it on but nothing happens. I can see the green power light, but nothing appears on the screen. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the graphics card. Now I'm in the UK, and asus have notoriously bad customer service over here, so I'd like to avoid them(although it may be my only option). I was going to try and open the bottom of the case and take a look at the inside, does anyone know if this will void the warranty or not? Plus I have data on the hard drive that I'd like to keep (service center would probably format the drive and install the original OS), the only way I can see of recovering this is to remove the hard drive, but I suspect that will void the warranty as well. Anyone got any advice?

No ideas? I just want to know if opening the bottom case or removing the hard drive will void my warranty.

If you hook it up to an external monitor you can see if its your graphics card or just the screen..Then you might be able to get the data off the HDD before its wipe by the Tech staff..

Not sure about the warrenty bit though??

Tried that today, nothing on the monitor. I mean if I can remove the HDD then I could easily back up everything. It's also got a crack in the case, but that's a known design issue, so I doubt they can kick up a fuss because of that.

taking out your HD will not void you warranty at all.

Thanks, will buy an enclosure and back up all my stuff. Do you know if taking off the bottom panel will void the warranty? I'd like to check out the graphics card and see if there's anything wrong with it.

Taking off the back panel will not void the warranty. On the CPU and GPU there are stickers saying "void if remove" or something like that. Take them off and you void you warranty for the CPU and GPU
