Hello guys,
First i have to make my apologizes to you because my English is not that good, i'm from Holland so English isn't my home language. Then my problem that is driving me crazy.
I have an Asus A6KM laptop for a little more then two years now. I formatted the laptop two weeks ago because I thought it was slow and the hard disk became full, so I reinstalled Windows XP SP3. Everything went fine and I installed all the drivers (sound, WiFi, touchpad, ect). My laptop has an Geforce Go 7300 onboard. I went to this site (went here earlier and had good experiences with the website/forum) and downloaded the 165.42 driver with modified inf file. Install went fine and everything seemed okay. Then, for about three hours later, the problem started. My screen started blinking black continuously! The mouse and keyboard don't react anymore and it stayed blinking (turning black, desktop, black, desktop, black, desktop, black, desktop and so on), I had to turn it off by holding the power button for 10 seconds.
When my screen starts blinking the CPU load goes to 100% (I can hear it because the fan goes on). Strange fact is that it is completely random when it happens. Sometimes it stays away for more than seven hours, but on another day is starts after 40 minutes of using it. I first thought that my CPU of GPU could be broken. So i downloaded a CPU stress tool and started it in DOS to make sure nothing could interrupt it, let it run for about 8 hours and nothing happened. Then turned to the GPU itself. I downloaded Atitool and let it scan for artifacts to heat up the GPU, after four and a half hours of running under full load: nothing happened! Then tested my ram with Memtest86, but again: nothing strange happened or errors were giving.
I then thought it could be the driver (driver 165.42). At first i didn't look at this because no one reported problems with the driver in the thread about this forceware. But because I could not find another part that could cause the problem, I downloaded the 177.92 driver and hoped this would take away my problems with the blinking black screen...but it didn't :'(
I still have problems with the continuously blinking/flickering black screen. The laptop freezes and I have to shut it down manually. When playing a game (Anno 1701, TrackMania Nations Forever) it happens also, but the screen then doesn't blink...it just freezes and I have to shut it down manually. But sometimes while playing a game it just doesn't happen, yesterday I played Anno 1701 for about three hours without a single problem but today it froze after playing it for about 50 minutes.
Hopefully someone can and will help me because it is really annoying and at school it is a problem also (losing files for example).
Thanks in advance![]()
ps: I did post this on another forum too, but didn't get any respone![]()

holy @$%#. No offense bud, but im not reading all of that. Great to see details and all, but can you post a condensed version (bullet points would help)
Funny. Most users dont offer any details. we cry. Finally someone offers many details. we still cry. -

Try an earlier nvidia driver than 177.92... uninstall your current one first. It sounds like a graphics driver issue...
Also make sure you don't have missing device drivers in Device Manager (yellow exclamation point signs) after you install the earlier version graphics drivers. -
