Is Asus notorius on putting bloatware on their laptops?

And do their notebook and netbooks come with a clean instal disk?

If you can answer it for the 1005ha that would be great ^^ thanks.

Depending on the model and the hardware it comes with, there could be a fair amount. I never use the camera-based login, nor do I use data security, LoJack, or a half dozen other things I've come across. It's really easy to get rid of, though. It's just something you expect when you get a new computer.

Asus netbooks have a lot less bloatware compared to notebooks.

For the 1005HA, the few that comes to mind are: Eee Storage, Asus update, Super Hybrid Engine (similar to Turbo Gear on notebooks), and Norton.

Lo-Jack is actually something I'm looking very forward to keeping when I get back to NC State this year...I swear people probably get robbed less in the ghetto than they do a college campus...

I have the G50VT-X5 (Best Buy model) and it has less bloatware than a HP laptop.

I will definitely attest to that.

I'm playing Geek Squad for my landlord at the moment, and, good God, this HP G60 has so much crap on it it's astonishing.

If you use the DVDs to restore, you can choose which pieces of "bloatware" to install. Not sure if this is true for anything other than the G50Vt.
