So I reinstalled my ux32v yesterday and now I need to tidy it up. When I bought this machine I installed a software that showed me the usefulness (user generated partly I think) of each software and service running at startup, offered a quick sumary and a link to more information, and a deinstall/disable at startup button. No idea though what the name of that tool was. What tool can you recommend to me? The above was great also for dummies as I got the information I needed in rather simple words and also comments from other users. Yes, it took a while to go through the whole list, but my computer was running like a dream afterwards.

If services running in background/at startup is not part of such a tool, how can I find out what to disable?

And finally, I need to change some settings such that PDFs, images and such don't open up in a Metro app, but from the desktop environment. Where do I do that? I also need to disable some apps that still run in the background and take up memory, while I don't use them either.

    Thanks a lot.

You need to download Adobe reader to open pdf files in desktop mode (or similar program).

Asus bloat is not too bad so unless it's running slow it should not impact performance/battery life.
