    Hi folks,

Bought the wife an X70SR a month or two ago and I have to say its a great little laptop. Ideal for what we need.

Today I also picked up a Panasonic 42PZ81B which is pretty much the best I could get for my budget.

I've hooked up the Laptop to the TV via an HDMI cable. Works fine, TV picks up 1080p connection nicely.

However when I try to playback a BluRay disc I get ""your display environment does not support protected content playback"

Now I've been reading around online and read a lot of stuff about only being able to use one display, so I've tried setting the TV to be the only display and using the FnF7 trick - neither works.

Anyone got any ideas? Playback software is the Asus supplied WinDVD.

    Much appreciated,
    Foxed

It might worth looking on the WinDVD web site for updates, plus the software supplied by Asus may be a cut down version

    Still no joy,

Updated graphics drivers and tried just about every configuration I can think of to get this to playback on the TV.

Amazing how hard it is to do things legitimately

Yeah, that's the major reason for which this DRM nonsense is going to die (I hope).

I think all the devices have to be compliant to the DRM standard; is it perhaps the case that the TV is not?

Also, be aware that Fn+F7 only turns off the backlight to the LCD; but the signal still goes to the LCD. To switch off the signal you should press Fn+F8. You may also try to make the external display primary, and then turn off the internal display.
