    can someone point me in the right direction?

    Which one is recommended? Which one will fit? What drive did you buy?

    I think it would be more convenient to just get an external usb blu-ray player.

    Should work on yours too. I've also played with some $79 SATA drives for HP DV7 and they work fine. Just a matter of changing the faceplate (take the one off your existing drive and put it on the BR drive).

    I did it on my G72 and it works like a charm. I grabbed a Sony bluray drive out of my wife's Vaio laptop...very nice.
