What does event viewer say? Right Click My Computer->Manage and Choose Event Viewer to look for any hints. Does the same thing happen in safe mode?

Also, did this start after you installed a certain program? Try to do a system restore from a point and see if that helps.

This is a scary situation and what I did was reinstall Windows or even reformatted the hard drive. but I dont recommend you to do so. Try to follow others' advice ^ ^

I have gotten a few of those, but usually right after resuming hibernation, and it only happens in windows, not linux.

Looks like driver problems if you're only getting it in Vista... I can only suggest updating them from support.asus.com , and if you're using Vista 64 downgrade to 32.

In device manager, right click the hardware item, properties, and then driver/advanced or something.

BUT: if the BSODs are random and not always connected to the same drivers, then it's likely that the RAM is faulty...

Use memtest86 to find out; Windows Vista also has a built-in memory tester (you can access it by pressing F8 during boot I think).

yep, I also get random IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD, one time when I copied things to another external harddrive and one time 1 minute after the boot. I did, run Memtest86 500% but no errors with the RAM, I have 2* 1GB Nanya Sticks. Ken said in another thread this error could also be caused by a bad Harddrive ... is there a tool to check that !?

The errors only occurring in Vista places doubts on them being hardware-related.

The HDD manufacturer usually provides utilities to check the HDD status using SMART.

I can only suggest updating all the drivers unless you already did that, and applying the latest Vista updates... have you tried Microsoft Knowledge Base looking for your particular problem?

Now it really pisses me off. I did a BIOS update to 801, took all the driver of the Asus website but still BSOD !!!! wtf !? There are no IRQ conflicts, temps are a bit high but still normal (I use a Zalman cooling pad), Bios is running at default settings, Memtest showed no errors after 500%... Any more suggestions ?
I should have taken another notebook...

I don;t have other suggestions, sorry...

I know that C90 is incompatible with some types of RAM (or rather, it's only compatible with a few types of RAM). Have you looked into that? Maybe it BSODs even if the RAM checks out OK in memtest, because of miscommunication with the RAM.

I think the C90-oriented threads can give you more info on this, if you didn't check them already.

The brand of the RAM is Nanya, the RAM's should be fine since the C90 has the same configuration in most of the European countries...if the probloms still occurs I ll send it to the repair service.

I too had the dreaded irql_not_less_or_equal BSOD for my SONY VAIO VGN a-150...really pissed me off! I had the Circuit City Service Plan and they fixed it 2 times, but still caused my cpu to restart aftering logging on to XP... the company C.C contracted with is really incompetent. :( They checked the hard drive, said it was fine. 2nd time they said there was nothing wrong with it. Anyways, I'm sending it out for another repair tomorrow. This time they're shipping to another computer servicing company. I'm going to be super pissed if I get it back, and it still dies every 5 mins!

The thing about my BSOD is that I didn't install any new programs / hardware. It occured after one day, when my battery level was low, and it went into 'suspend' mode, and I turned on my cpu a couple hrs later after I remembered the cpu was still on. I reformatted my hard drive but it still restarts. Maybe my RAM is corrupted?

Sounds a bit like an ACPI issue.

What do you mean exactly by 'CPU on' and 'CPU off'? The CPU is on if and only if the laptop is on...

If after a third repair they don't get it right, in my book that means you're entitled to a replacement with a newer type of notebook.

Are you using 64bit Vista ultimate or 32bit? IF you are can you try with 32 bit vista or XP?

By "CPU on/off" I meant laptop turned on/off.

Yeah I asked Circ. City about the lemon policy and they said it only applies if they replace the same part 3 times, then they will consider giving you a gift card for a new notebook with similar specs...meaning the gift card will worth a lot less than your original purchase price.

well, I also fixed my Blue Screens. I have not installed the ATK Drivers (are not on the Support Disc, or they dont work). I took them from the Asus Page (called "ATKDrv_Vista32"). Now the Standyby and the Hibernate Mode do not work, because the screen stays black(maybe some ACPI issue), but I can pass on it...

I got IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD on different notebooks with drivers download from laptopvideo2go.com, switch back to Asus drivers no more BSOD.

Pretty sure the BSOD is video driver related. The ASUS drivers are sensitive to the order in which they are installed. I remember reading a post from one of the resellers that talked about installation order.

Allright, I finally fixed all my issues. After I solved the random BSOD the Sleep/Hibernate function didn't work (screen stayed black) ... I went back to stock VGA drivers from the Asus website ... then in hibernate mode I was able to see the Login screen, but as I put my finger over the scanner I got a BSOD with an Itecir.sys error. I downloaded and installed "ITE_Romote_VT" drivers from the Asus Download site ( just search for ITE). And now everything works fine ... so far.
