Greets.
My ASUS W3N as returned from RMA now.
I noticed that the screws now have some kind of blue paint on them. Not on the head, but on the spiral.
Is this some kind of "intrusion" detection?
Thanks

I don't think you can detect anything with it on the spiral (correct me if I'm wrong). I do think it's there for a better/tighter fit.

Might be LocTite.

It is a loctite type of adhesive.... it's to keep the screws from coming out easily. The blue type is really just to keep the unit from loosening under it's own bumped and so forth. It's not tough enough to keep you from removing the screw if need be.

Alright
I keep wondering about the "urban myth" of people putting things on bolts to find out if warraty is void
And it would be unfair for me to lose my warraty as I just put some ram on my machine with EXTRA care. Much more care than the RMA services, that sent me my laptop with a broken rabbet (the one on that keep the keyboard secure on the right side) and with a scratch on the palm rest.
Thank you.
(ASUS RMA in Portugal is not so good in taking care, but is ultra fast. 3 days is the typical RMA time, accounting the travel time of 2 days). -

That's not an urban myth, and technically I wouldn't push it
...... Asus has other ways to tell when certain things were screwed with. Most of them, apparently only a handful of dealers even know about. But it's basically to protect the motherboard and cpu from being touched. Basically if the mobo shorts out, and it was because someone's hands touched it or water was spilled on the system, they can tell. But in your case, I wouldn't worry about it.
