Has anyone successfully used the Bluetooth in any Asus laptop to hook it up to either Bluetooth headphones or transmit to a bluetooth receiver?

I'm looking into purchasing bluetooth headphones and I was wondering if anyone's had any problems with using the built in Bluetooth on the Asus laptops for this.

Also what kind of range have you guys seen with the built in transmitter? Is it the short range (5 meters or less) or long range (30 m or more)?

Another cool thing I want to get is a bluetooth receiver that I can hook to my stereo to broadcast my music wirelessly from my laptop to the stereo. Range is a big issue there though.

Good question. I am using an Acer 8204WLMi right now and it has a broadcom bluetooth module in it. The broadcom/widcomm drivers work work wonderfully with the Logitech bluetooth receiver I have hooked up to my home stereo.

I have read that the Asus laptops use a Toshiba Bluetooth module and so they have to use the Toshiba Bluetooth Software. Since I am considering purchasing an A8JS, I would like to know if anybody has had experience with the A2DP or Stereo Audio profile on the Asus laptops. Specifically, does it support an A2DP profile such as Stereo Audio, and how is the sound quality?

    Thanks,
    RA

    This is what I have.

I actually have a spare one...(bought one just for an extra transmitter for my other PC). If you want it, I will sell it to you for $30 shipped. Like I said, it works wonderfully with my Acer's built-in Broadcom bluetooth, but I can't say how it is with the Asus since I haven't purchased one yet.

    Let me know...

A execellent choice is the Omiz OMS600 stereo headphone in combination with the Toshiba bluetooth. The usage range is about 10 meters. It has a perfect sound.

I have done it with my W3V using the Widcomm drivers and the Samsung SBH100, but the sound quality is very low since the W3V only has Bluetooth 1.2 (no A2DP profile). Thus, it is only worth it if your notebook has Bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP profile). Otherwise, purchase a 2.0 dongle.

As for the range, like bluen said, it should be 10 meters or 30 feet.

If your stereo is a Bluetooth 2.0 device, I don't see why you couldn't hook it up with your notebook.

I actually found the range to be extremely weak on my G1's built in bluetooth even though it is 2.0. After 5-10 feet it completely cut out.
