So, am starting to play around with my A8F that I've now got.
Managed to pair up my headset and use it with Skype, which is cool.
Tried to get my phone to work as a remote, however it requires a "HID" interface. Have been doing some research on this, but can't find any info re Asus and HID.
Also it seems quite a few bluetooth mice require this HID, and I'm planning on getting a bluetooth mouse.
Also, is it possible to change the Bluetooth stack (my present one is Toshiba) or does it reallly matter?
Thanks

HID stands for Human Interface Device. It's the standard that things like keyboards, mice, and joysticks use to communicate with Windows and applications.
Newer Bluetooth devices have HID support, so they can be used as remotes, etc. You need to enable the functionality in Windows.

I don't have any Bluetooth devices myself. A lot of people seem to like replacing their stock stack with the Widcomm stack, I believe. Someone with more experience might comment there. -
If it's anything like the MS stack, you'll need to get WIDCOMM. This is especially true for HID devices. I have the Logitech V270 BT mouse and was experiencing constant connection drops and lag with the MS stack.
From what I've read in the GSM Forum, this Toshiba stack isn't much better .. You can check out my post about it in the "5672 How To's" thread in the Acer forums. Hope that helps.
Cheers. -
Well I have had very little luck in trying to work HID with the Toshiba stack.
Now, how do I go about downloading the Widcomm stack? Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
EDIT: Stratch that, got the phone to work as a mouse and also a remote with media player. Very useful indeed! -
Hi, just FYI, have been able to use my headset, mobile phone and mouse without any problems with the Toshiba stack. Was able to use my new V270 straight out of the box.
