I bought an Asus X83VP-X1, which has a Bluetooth button but doesn't actually come with Bluetooth. Is there a way to "install" Bluetooth on the computer? Does Bluetooth have to be an external device plugged into the USB port if the manufacturer did not incorporate it into the laptop?

I added an internal Bluetooth card to my Dell laptop. It was simple, in a compartment next to the battery and only took a few seconds. However, I'm not sure how the Asus is designed.

You can review your specs and see if you can swap out the pci-e wireless card and replacing it with a combo card (bt and wifi in one). Most likely you already have the pci-e card type.
