    Hello,

In september I've bought a Asus N43JF in Singapore, currently im back in the Netherlands and for my job as webdeveloper I need specific options available in Windows 7 Ultimate .. therefor, I tried to install a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 from MSDN .. Unfortunatly this didnt work out as I expected, and since its taking me two days now to get an OS running on a laptop I am asking for help (ive got some experience with installing OS)

    The main problem:
An infinite loop, this with a fresh install of windows 7 Ultimate: YouTube - Asus at infinite loop

    The things i tried:
    - Reinstallation of Windows 7 x64 .. (completed this multiple times)
    - Turning off nearly everything in bios like USB/Blue tooth/ etc etc.. just in case
    [Edit]
    - I tried to run recovery from Asus, which requires 5 DVD's, it failed with error code -3 at the last disc :(
    - I tried to install 32 bit OS but same boot loop occured

Currently im busy installing a 32bit system, but this wont work with my 4gb memory.. but I just wanted to know if this causes the same problems.

Can anybody help me find a solution, because I've got no clue where to look anymore.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

Maybe the hard disk is failing? Have you run any diagnostics on it?

You can try booting an Ubuntu livecd to get to the disk utility and look at the SMART info. Or you can use something like seagate seatools to do a drive fitness test.

    Thank you for your reply..

Eventually I managed to fix it late at night yesterday, after alot of tries with the official MS releases of windows I searched for whether its possible to recover from the recovery partition, and found out about the F9 key..

For users who get experience problems:
F9 during boot performs a recovery from the recovery partition from Asus

I was able to recover my original Windows and then upgrade to Ultimate using my anytime upgrade key ..

    Thanks for the help

    A relieved N43JF User,
