    Hi,
since several weeks my laptop will not boot up (not even the bios), but only after 30 min orso.
I've checked all hardware, changed the battery, cleared cmos, but the issue remains. I noticed when i turned it on with the back panel open both fans would not start up, while the hdd and the dvd make a startup noise. When i turn it on with the gpu dismounted both fans start up direct. The GPU is working fine btw, i leave the pc on most of the day. When i do a restart of win 7 it will start up directy, but when i close it and turn it on, i need to wait for 30 min orso. Is there anyone who can help me? Any help is much appreciated.

Have you tried booting the unit without the battery attached? (Adpt power only)

I have seen this issue with bad batteries on a number of k50ij (same gen as your laptop)

Yes, definitely what ciddireblackire said, try it without the battery. And try doing an EC reset by removing the battery and AC adapter for 30+ seconds, and for good measure press the power button a number of times and hold it down for 5+ seconds a few times before you plug the AC adapter back in. Basically that is a dance you can do to get rid of any residual charge in the laptop, once the power is gone the EC will reset when it gets power again.

Sounds like faulty caps or a failing mobo.

    How technical are you?

Probably a motherboard problem, is it under warranty?
