Bought a ASUS G2S-A1, would I be better suited with the ASUS C90?

I don't really need all the flash that is displayed by the ASUS G2S-A1. ASUS C90 looks more conservative for me and appeals to me, although the screen and resolution are less but isn't it faster than the G2S? If so, how do I customize it? I live in Canada and bought the ASUS G2S-A1 from ebay for only $2000 CAD flat with 3 year warranty.

    Thanks in advance

Well you are comparing a 17 inch to a 15.4 inch, so the main question would be what do you honestly need? Yes the c90 would be faster because of the desktop cpu. If your looking at 17 inches you can get ones that are more powerful then the 8600, such as the toshiba x205 with an 8700m or a sager with the 7950 gtx which is pretty powerful. THese are signifigantly more expensive then the c90 though. Though it also comes down to if you believe that the c90 will get a high end gpu.

Consider transportation size, use in lecture halls, use in library, etc.

If its mostly a desk space saver in your room, with a few trips to the library, then the G2s is fine. If its going to be in lecture halls(and pray there is a AC outlet nearby), then the C90s is a decent choice(though I'd find something smaller or with more battery life).

For what you do you could go with a F3SV IMO.

For the C90S, infonec.ca has a nice combo.

Well it is not that you can't use a 17" notebook in school, I have a friend who takes his 17" Dell E1700 too school and uses it in his lap.

Another friend of my opted for a HP 17" notebook over the 15.4" notebook because it gives more real-estate, and he travels around North America and Africa.

Most people would prefer 15.4" notebook or less in size, because it is lighter and easier to carry.

So depending on how you feel, can you bear the size and weight of the G2s for your needs?

Fortunately, my university classes are not set in lecture halls. Instead, we have classrooms where they have RJ45 jacks and power plugs.

I'd like to be as future proof as possible. Being a desktop user switched laptop user now, spending $2000 on a system is not something I'd like to do every year or two.

There is more than one way of being future proof. If you really must get new technology every 1-2 years. Then do what other do.
Make more money and then do the any of the following.
Get a Decent laptop like G1S or G2S now. Try to keep it in mint condition. Sell it on ebay 1 year later for 1000-1400. Add some more additional $$$ out of pocket and buy a newer model.

This applies to everything and not just laptop.
Want a nice car. Lease it for 3 years instead of buying it.
Want a big house. Get a 5yr ARM loan and sell house in less than 5year and get a newer house.
Want a great night out. Gather up some disposable cash and buy lots of cheap vodka and put it in empty expensive vodka bottles and then head to your nearest college party.
