    Hello guys.
I`m new here and I need some help.
This is my first notebook, but I have a lot of expertise with PCs.
I have bought a ASUS X50RL-AP999P recently and it`s a new piece (not refurbished or used).
btw, if it Was refurbished, how could I know?
Anyway the batteries will charge just fine, but they will only charge if the pc is off or hibernating.
When the pc is on, the icon on taskbar will show (ac power on) and will not recharge the battery (I can see the battery is like at 80% and it will not charge it) until I turn the pc or put it to hibernate.
I tried some different configuration on asus power4gear thing but nothing works.

    Help please?

Well, the problems can come from several sources:
    1. ACPI driver bugs. Try updating ACPI drivers from support.asus.com
    2. BIOS bugs. Try updating BIOS for this (see my guide in my sig)
    3. Buggy firmware on the battery. You would need to exchange the battery.
    4. Faulty motherboard (i.e., buggy charging circuitry on the motherboard). You would need to exchange the motherboard.

Even if 1. and 2. don't work you might find out whether it's software by running a different OS, for instance a Live Linux CD like Knoppix. If the batt charges in Linux while the notebook is on, then the problem isn't hardware.

Between 3. and 4. you don't really have a way to determine which is at fault, so if you determine its 3. or 4. probably your best bet is to send it in RMA for warranty work.

I will determine if it`s 1 or 2 and get back here.
Funny thing is the BIOS hardly give me any options.. there are no options to configure ram memory, or amount of ram I give to graphics board, or anything else at all.
Besided booting options, there`s nothing there... seems really weird..

if you come from the desktop world you will find the laptop BIOSes to lack a lot of options... that's how they are, it's not abnormal for your laptop to be like that.
