So I installed wireless console 2.0 and the bt software last night and as a consequence my brightness controls stopped responding, both in windows via power management and physically using the buttons. It still works before windows loads though. I've tried reinstalling the atk acpi driver and uninstalled the other two and it still didn't solve the problem. A system restore to an earlier point didn't work. Any suggestions?

Try reinstalling the entire ATK suite... including at least ATK hotkey.

If it works before Windows loads them some program must be preventing it from running.

I'd suggest block ALL programs from running when Windows starts and see if it works or not, we'll work our way from there.

if not, kill any process that is not required by windows and try again.

does the g51 have an ambient light sensor? (pressing Fn+A is worth a try either way)

Nope, no light sensor. I think my W7 install is botched anyway from overclocking experiments (I had a few BSOD's when trying to hit 3400 mhz lol). I'm about done backing up my stuff and I'm just going to do a clean W7 install. Thanks for the replies.
