other than the W2JB model which is in a brushed metal casing, which are the models from Asus that come in metal casing?

Kinda prefer the metal feel to a plastic cover if possible.

The W3j has it over the lid, the V6j has it on the Palmrest

Remember a metal palm rest is much better than having a metal lid.

That way, there's no chance of palmrest fading, which is rather unsightly. :)

well the lids Asus uses on like the V6j are super strong i would guess even stronger than the w3j lid. The metal they use on lids is so thin it can dent or scratch easy. The plastic the w3j uses on the palm rest if like the w3v fades rather easy. Your skin oils eat away at it. The palm rest get the most wear and tear in that sence. So if you have a metal palm rest your pc looks newer for alot longer time.

i get the point, thanks for explaning. :)

kinda like the brushed metal surface on the W2JB model so was wondering any other model from Asus (14-15" with X1600 card) has the same finishing.

Isn't the v6j like the v6va where the lid is carbon fibre which explains why it is solid like a rock even though its only mm's thin.

The lid is magnesium composite....or something, I think?

Magnesium sounds right. I have the V6j, this thing is built well, unfortunately I managed to put a nasty scratch on the outside, but it would have been worse, I guess I got lucky with having this instead of another computer.

i think metal would have been to thin for the v6j lid. because its so thin they need something with alittle less flex. Because they metal they use is way way thin.
