I am a recent buyer of the Asus V6J and I have to tell you that I have not seen a machine with a better build quality...period! You can walk into any Sony store and this machine will blow any of the Sony machines away...same thing if you walk into any retail store anywhere in the US. There is no better built machine...it is amazing. If you want something of quality...I can personally recommend this notebook and I have used notebooks for the past 10 years. I searched for a long time and this is it.

I bought mine from Proportable.com and I can also recommend them as THE source for Asus notebooks. You can trust them for being honest in telling you delivery dates...what they have...and when you WILL get it! I can not recommend them enough...order your Asus from them with confidence and you can sleep at night knowing that they are straight with you.

Feel free to email me with questions on the V6J OR Proportable.com

I think you're preaching to the choir Lee, at least in this forum. ;) With the exception of one or two people who have had sound issues with their V6s, everyone else who owns one seems extremely happy with their purchase. I only wish the V6J had the IPS display they used in the V6Va model, it is probably the best notebook screen I've seen, and I've looked at a lot of notebooks in the last 6 weeks.

In fact, this is the notebook I'm considering at the moment, I'm trying to pick one up wholesale through a contact at work... at around $3000 AUD it's pretty pricy, but you definitely do get what you pay for.

I haven't dealt with ProPortable before, although the owner (I think) is a regular poster here and is very helpful, especially with photos and info regarding upcoming models. Certainly worth checking out...

Regarding the bundled bag with the V6J, I've seen in a couple of photos that it appears to be a Targus model. What's your opinion of it's quality? Should I consider upgrading from the supplied bag if I get the V6? The bundled Logitech mouse should be fine until I get around to buying a bluetooth model (I hate those dongles you get with other wireless mouses).

Totally agree - I would have gone with it instead of the W3j if it had IPS...too bad.

Nope...I don't work for them...in fact, it was after reading this forum for a long time and seeing comments about them that prompted me to give them a try. I just want to share my experience with others who are doing the research just as I did. I think it is important to share your buying experience here so that others can make a better choice. That is why I mention them in my post.

Agreed that the V6J has wonderful build quality. Just feels so solid. I have some quibbles with it, but taken asa a whole it's a great machine.

I'd need a very large glass of water to wash that down... perhaps you could powder it and sneak it into my food? ;)
