So it seems that both Asus and LG are reputable brands with excellent notebooks, however, both brands have notebooks of varying calibre, design, and durability. From what I understand, the quality of the Asus series is something along the lines of A,F,G,W,V (correct me if I'm wrong) from lowest to highest quality, however, what would be the LG equivalent to these series? For example, is the V1J approximately equal to the LG S1 in terms of build quality? And, say, F3Jp approximately equal to the LG P1? I'm contemplating the purchase of a notebook from either Asus or LG, and would be very happy if someone could help me out with a comparison. Thanks!

EDIT: oh, as well, please factor in things such as overheating, screen quality, etc.

    A couple of things.

    A. Which model? Both lines have their consumer cheap models and their high end gaming/media/business notebooks, so it's hard to compare a Civic to a Impreza.

    B. ASUS forum. Biased at best.

Gosh, what's wrong with my post? I wrote a lot more following the "A" and it's not showing up :S i'll try to fix it, please bear with me

EDIT fixed it, guess you can't use a lot of <<< in a row

As for the bias, I am hoping that those who respond will try to be as objective as possible and be knowledgeable rather than speculative.

I guess @ the price point, s1 and v1 would butt heads.

When i got my computer, i was seriously thinking about LG as well, something about a numpad in a 15'4 computer was strangely attractive to me. But since i didn't exactly liked wide screen i stuck with Asus.

Asus has more models and they are going to usually be up to date

Is there even an lg santa rosa model for sale?

Lg are built excellent though, top notch in design. I would pay 100 or so more for a lg I have more confidence in their brand than asus.
Much smaller scale production, made in korea.

Asus forum , get ready for bias so take each comment with a grain of salt.

Initial reviews of the R500 have been excellent, LG took practically every one of the considerations mentioned by the NBR review of the S1 and implemented it in the x-note santa rosa refresh (the NBR review was on their site so they did infact notice it ;) ).

You can't really go wrong with either company though in terms of build quality of all their consumer/business notebooks.

The fact that LG took the time to read consumer reviews and implement suggestions impresses me very much. I am liking this notebook very much already. However, do you by any chance have an idea regarding its ETA?
