I have the N81, and was playing with the G50-X5 at Best Buy (I have a G50-A2) just today and in build quality I'd say the N81 feels a bit more solid in all areas except the keyboard. Then again it's a smaller machine so you'd expect a bit less flex. Fit and finish are very good on both. The N81 has an LED backlit screen so that's a plus... it's definitely brighter. I don't really think you're going to see much difference overall; others may disagree but I'd say buy the one you like the specs and size of the most.

Build quality between the two are similar as they both use a rigid plastic chassis. The plastic on the G50 is thicker and seems more durable IMO, due to it having to support a heavier weight base.
