I’m looking for the 2.16GHz W3J with 2GB. Will that be a "Built on ASUS" only? and if so, any idea where I might find a place selling that after the W3J ships?

I’m starting med school on June 5th, so I need it in my hands by May 22nd

Any ideas? Sorry if this question has been asked and answered elsewhere.

    Thanks!

You probably won't see a whitebook version of the W3 series anymore...
the closest you'll get is a whitebook of the A8 series...(which is almost just as good).
You MIGHT find a reseller who can config the W3J to your liking... an example of a reseller is StarTech www.stipc.com

However, most dealers will sell you the stock config...so if you want to customize, you're better off with a barebone of the A8 series.

As for whether or not you can get one in your hands by May 22nd... look at the "Latest Updates" threads on the forum :)

well um, check this out, the W3J comes stock with 1.86ghz and 1gb of ram.

whether the ram is 1 stick of 1gb or 2x 512 ram, people will take em out and throw in 2x 1gb to get 2gb. So that in itself would cost 150-230$ usd.

now... as you may know the Yonah 1.86 costs like 300$ and the 2.16 costs like over 600$ USD.

I am curious on how you can justify paying just over 300$ for an increase in 300mhz?

My personal view is that you won't notice or need a 2.16, unless your doing some hardcore encoded and decoding in which raw processing power is extremely needed.

    but that's just my opinion.

    Thanks,

Why would people take out one 1GB stick to replace it with 2?

    I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that it's a single 1GB stick.

This is StarTech's new website, but it only shows the 2Mhz as an option, not the 2.16. I would highly recommned them, though. I got my custom W3V from them and will probably trade up to a W3J.

It is a single stick of 1gb, IIRC.

If it's the dual-core you really want, I suggest the A8J. For looks? Stick with the W3J or even the Z63.
