    Hi all,

I found these burner updates for my DVD/DL Burner that I got with my Z96JS (namely the TSSCorp TS-L632D) when I purchased it in August.

It originally had the AS05 version installed, and I found AS99 so I decided to give it a try. I installed it and it seems ok - I didn't find the change I was hoping for (that it would recognize my Sony DVD-Rs properly as 1-16x instead of 2/2.4/4/6 - this may be a Nero issue though). I'm not sure if it is any quieter than it was before the upgrade (I wish I did more testing on this) - but it may be a bit faster on loading/transfering. I'm hoping the burn strategy is better than was in the old firmware, so the discs I burn might last longer and have fewer errors (if not 0).

Has anyone else given the upgrade a try?

I found it here (link removed for reasons stated below - Sorry)

well you have to keep in mind that the z96 series has probably 20 different burners used. it is all up to the resellers. we use quanta drives explicitly

Sorry, I should have written 'some' other ASUS laptops in the title. It's really just an update for the TS-L632D which I happened to get with my Z96JS and which I know at least 6 other owners from various places also have.

It was kind of hard to find this. Thought it might be useful to some people, but I guess nobody was interested and it was just confusing to people and might cause damage for people who don't know...as it seems it may have for cheeroke.

So I removed the link to the firmware update page from my message, sorry.

Well, I my opinion the problem is not with software but with hardware. At the beginning I got AS05 but it was as I write before, I thought something can change when I use AS99 but nothing change. I have no clue where is problem.

Do not feel blame that u might some problems for me, I found this soft earlier than I come here. Maybe you should reneve your post and restore link, maybe for someone it will help.
    ...not for me.

Anyway, maybe some user of this forum got same problem as I got?
I can write dvd, but can read only cd. I tried different dvd's but still same problem.
