Sorry if it's been asked before, but is there a 'business' version of the G1S in the works?

It would be nice to have a G1S with some of the typical business features, such as as spill proof keyboard, etc., for those of us who spend a lot of time on the road.

    ur joking?
G1s is part of the asus gaming series. If you want a 15.4" business notebook from asus check out the v1.

The whole aspect of G1S is a generally cheap,cost-effective,performance geared and flashy design.
If you want a good business laptop, ASUS V1/V2 and the Santa Rosa version of 8430 (I don't remember the model number, sorry)

You might want to consider a Business notebook with a dedicated graphic card instead. Combining the best of business and gaming, although it may not be as flashy as G1.

The V1Js is the Asus business model, which has the typical business features, so much better build quality, spill-free keyboard, it's much lighter, and IMHO, it looks better than the G1s

The HP equivalent is called - HP 8510 p. :)

I'm so glad that there are only 2 HP 8510 models, as opposed to the 12 HP 6xxx models :p

Anyway, the V1 as everyone mentioned. Also check out the VX2. Pre-DX10/SR, the VX2 had the exact same performance specs as the G1P (the Go7700), whereas the V1Jp had the ATI x1700. You'll end up paying a bit of a premium for the VX2 style and design though.

You give up significant performance in buying a "business series" model (thinking of the F3SV, since the V1S isn't out yet) vs. the G1S. I'm a businessman and every response from my clients to the G1S has been very positive, e.g, to admin guys and med- and bioscientists, all notebooks are the same; to IT guys, they give me a sly look, and ask about graphics performance, then after the meeting huddle over the G1S and ask if I have some FPS games loaded. I just smile.

Eh? How so? The V series will have the exact same specs and GPU as the G1S, and you can clock them up to the same as well. I don't see why there would be any significant performance loss at all, unless you're talking about heat issues with extended gaming.

I can't say for sure the V1s will have the exact same specs, the original V1j had the x1700 while the G1p had the 7700, and the latter was much, much more powerful. It could be the fact the x1700 was a disappointment in the first place(like the G2p's x1700) and ASUS counted that the x1700 would be the same as the 7700 but was not.

That's true, the V1s specs aren't official yet, and I'm assuming it'll have the 8600M GT. If it has something weaker, then of course it's not a good comparison.

The VX2 though, which is more likely to have the 8600M GT, will certainly not be any weaker than the G1S.

the Computex spec sheet, and the Cnet UK review both have it with the 8600GT At a guess I would say it will be DDR2 not DDR3 like the G1s. It wouldnt make sense to have a lighter more feature rich machine at the same price as the G1S with the same performance.
