Will you buy an Asus laptop if gpu temp goes up to 100c?

Please describe what exactly you're looking to gain from this poll - are you talking value at resale, initial purchase, issues with Asus QC or engineering.....?

No, thank you. My G50Vt-X3 GPU reach 90 out of box, and 85 undevolted (cooler CPU mean cooler GPU because they share heatsink), enough to make me worry. Maybe next time, I will build gaming desktop and buy ASUS netbook.

My answer is yes, but only if it is in gaming and that 100C figure is top temp. And I would not get extended warranty nor cooler.

My current G50vt reaches up to 95C and I have no problems with that. :)

    Same here.
Guessing you are referring to the G51 with the high temps.T.T
The 260's run abnormally high in that laptop now, maybe a BIOS update can fix things

remember if they come up with a quick software fix and not a hardware fix, then besdies the 260m gtx being downclocked a little already, asus with a new fix would just slow it down more or cut voltage or cut some of the shaders off or REALLY downclock it, which then would make it pointless to have! remember the whole idea of this laptop when it was announced was to have way faster cpus, dual hard drives, bluetooth and bluray, with the current cooler i dont see how the gpu and cpu would be any cooler with quad or higher clocked cpu and reference clocks on gpu...

QFT I'm becoming really disappointed with it now. I just hope the 71 doesn't have the same problems...

I am surprised asus have made another 15" laptop with an incompetently designed bios to cool the GPU. One would think they learnt from the C90S and G1S laptops.

true DAT! thats why i personally am going to herass them until they come up with a fix the critical temp read from the gpu bios is 108C and DMC4 benchmark git it to 99c, so tell me that is normal like others are trying to argue!

It isn't normal in "most" notebooks lol. 99C is ok though so long as that is the absolute maximum and you have warranty on the laptop to replace it. Still getting a notebook cooler would be a good idea to lower temps directly.
