I want a new notebook but have to wiat till I get a go ahead on my budget for next month. I can either get something for bout 1500 and if so will likely go with the P series from Gateway. I am a home gamer/builder on ASUS Workstation Series and ROG, so would really love to continue my computing on mobile ASUS if I get an estr K to spend then I would like an ASUS closest to or if not beter then the Gateway P-16831FX or P-171S as it may have been renamed since Santa Rosa Refresh.

I like it for the feature set and low buy in and upgradability. I am willing to upgrade my CPU but not sue on the GPU as they look to be less available untill already old. So that in mind, I'd love to stay with bay for 2 internal HDD's, and an eSATA plus HDMI out. I like to utilize my external DTA high res audio via 1 cable. I would love to have an overclockable model and one with great cooling.

Of corse it goes without saying, I need it to be the Refresh PM965 if I buy next month.

If I wait for Montivena, what ASUS series will I be looking out for with these offerings this summer if on schedule?

the C90 is smaller and only has 1 HD bay but it has pretty much everything you're looking for.

as for newer Asus notebooks, I really don't know, I'd say something else in the C line if they make anything, or the M50 and M70 they talked about at CES, those also seemed like multimedia notebooks.

After lots of reading, I come to notice, ASUS doesn't appear to all that up to date on the Gaming market. I do lke the style if thjey offer the same kind of quality as the desktop variables and tweakable features.

So at this point, I'd be mainly interested in any model with quality screan and I/O options so I can upgrade myself. I really liked the concept of the C90 last year, but as for now, it looks like it's taking too long to even get eh PM965 mobo and chipset, let alone the "Refresh" or P35 based Montevina this year.

My main focus if possable is RAID 0 on 15.4 or 2 bay capable for future DIY RAID.

For 2 internal HDDs, only the V1S is an option I think, it has the hotswappable bay. But it won't be GPU upgradeable...
