I am planning on getting the A8jm and now narrowed it all down to 3 sellers:
    newegg
    milestonepc
    portableone

the prices seems to be similar so that is out of the picture.
I want to base this on warranty service.
If my machine decides to die on me, which of these seller would handle it best?
Thanks in advance for your insight. :D

Well, the A8Jm is covered by Global warranty so it's most likely ASUS that you'd have to deal with if it dies on you.

For P1, I think they replace it with their own reseller warranty, since if you go with bluetooth, it voids the ASUS warranty, and they've got a pretty good reputation around here, so good buy IMO.

Ditto with Milestone, you'll always be able to get help from them quickly.

Newegg = online, so doubt you'd get any sort of support. They'd probably just tell you to deal directly with ASUS.

I'd suggest going with Milestone or P1 if you decide to purchase.

ps. I heard A8Jm is available at ewiz for $1350 ... so if you want no upgrades and a cheap price (still have Global Warranty if anything happens)... they might be a good source too.. I think one forum member purchased from them recently.

I am in the US. So now I have to decide to go with milestonepc or P1. I know that milestonepc just opened there US office. I dont need the bluetooth. No upgrades will be necessary. Hmmm, which should I go with....

Which one are you closer to? Maybe that could factor into your decision should you need to ship the machine for repairs?

Darrick, your point is a good one. But both of them are in california. Basically they are the same distance to me.

in that case.. heads or tails ? :)

Then again, since Milestone is new in the US and P1 is more established, maybe go with them. I know that Danny in Milestone Canada provides great service to his customers, but I can't speak about the US operations and who'll be handling it there, whether or not he'll be as good as Danny in providing courteous & timely support.

They seem to be out of stock. Looks like you bought the last one.

AFAIK, from now on, they either won't get hot models, or have to sell at higher prices if they get.

I got a small qty of A8Jm today, after these, I know there is another disti in Fremont has 2pcs left, that will be all in Fremont area distributors, in Canada, no disti has in stock, and I don't think Asus will have it again very soon.

Nope, but it takes a while to build the laptop itself, it has to be shipped, quality checked, etc.

They are built and sent in batchs to distrubuters worldwide, so at some times, there will always be shortages for a while, depending on popularity.
