I'm looking to buy the Asus Taichi 21 and Amazon seems to be the cheapest right now. When I buy laptops directly from manufacturers, I usually call to get a discount off of the msrp. However, asus still does not sell directly. Is there a way to get a better price on asus laptops?
Also, does anyone have experience with returning laptops to Amazon?

Depends on the seller. If it is Amazon then usually you are in good shape with exchanges and what not. If it is anything other than Amazon, you have to read up on the company, etc.

It is worth a try contacting Ken Lee here http://www.gentechpc.com/system_dept.asp?dept_id=SD-017 He has a stellar reputation on this forum. the nice thing about working with his company is you can get the computer "checked out" before it is shipped to you.

Amazon has a good return policy, but make sure the seller is actually Amazon. If it's a store front or a featured merchant, they will have different fine print that you'll need to sift through so that you cover your bases before you buy.
