i am buying a w3j (best portable gaming laptop on the market besides the macbook pro) and i have only found agearnotebooks.com selling them to america that will allow me to upgrade the laptop. does anyone know if there are other websites that will allow me to do that for cheaper and that are in the US? thank you for your time.

    Welcome to the Forums.

Ok, let me see, do you need the W3J now? or can you wait? Because if you wait the Price of the W3J is gonna remain $1800 USD, and will get a 2.0ghz yonah and a 1gb stick of ram instead of 2x 512mb.

Also i'm curious as to what specs you want?

If you din't know already, if you upgrade any Ensemble unit you will void your ASUS warranty.

But since agearnotebooks knows this, they offer their own warranty, so you don't have to worry about the ASUS warranty, aslong as you stay in North America for the time of your warranty, because you will not get Asus warranty around the world when you void it.

With that being said, in theory, and in practice, people do swap the HD and Ram anyways when they buy the W3J and keep the old equipment just incase you need to warranty it, but if ASus realizes or figures out that you upgraded some parts, you warranty would be voided.

In any case, i hope this info helps.

As for people that will upgrade the W3J, just ask some of the other resellers here, many do upgrade it but don't offer that feature on the website because it is in people best interest to keep the ASUS warranty over a reseller warranty.

And yes upgrading can cost a lot of money =\.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

do not upgrade the w3j in any way

what you are doing is just taking the cpu thats in the machine and throwing it away
the macine comes set up the way its set up.

    dont upgrade anything ok

maybe buy a new 7200 rpm hd at neweg and then take the 100 gb one thats in it out and put it in a external case
    dont upgrade the cpu
