So I've all but decided to buy a 13" zenbook UX31. Problem is there are so many variants of it that i'm left toally confused. What is the difference between:

    UX31E
    UX31A-R5102H
    UX31A-DB51

As far as I can tell there appears to be little to no difference between them? Also if some 1 has recently bought 1 from best buy, is the trackpad improved or is it as problematic as before?

The UX31A is a newer model than the UX31E and has better specifications and screen. Some models of UX31A have touch, but those may not have reached the shops yet. I don't know about the differences between the versions of UX31A you mentioned, but the UX31A is certainly the one to go for rather than the UX31E. And if you are interested in a touchscreen, hunt for a UX31A with a touchscreen.

    The differences between the Asus UX31E (DH52, DH72) and UX31A (DB51, DB71)

zooot is correct. the UX31E is the oldest. The difference between the two UX31A is the DB51 has been retired and the new model number is the R5102H. They both have i5 3317U chipset
